About this build.
African Gray refurbished and restored perimeter infrastructure at an operational MTN technical facility in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, addressing the condition of a physical asset that played an important role in protecting essential facility services.
The perimeter wall accommodated waterlines supporting the facility’s cooling systems and electrical lines serving critical technical infrastructure. Its deteriorated condition presented an asset-integrity concern extending beyond conventional building maintenance.
Recognising the operational significance of the infrastructure housed within the perimeter, African Gray approached the project as a critical facility maintenance intervention, focusing on structural integrity, service-line insulation and protection, surface restoration, and long-term asset durability.

Operational value delivered
The project addressed the condition of both the perimeter structure and the essential services associated with it. By combining wall refurbishment with cooling-system waterline insulation and electrical line protection, African Gray delivered a maintenance intervention focused on the integrity of the physical infrastructure supporting the technical facility.
The works strengthened the protective condition of the perimeter, helped safeguard critical service lines and supported the ongoing reliability of the facility’s physical infrastructure.
Protecting the infrastructure behind critical operations.
The completed refurbishment demonstrates African Gray’s approach to critical infrastructure maintenance: understanding the operational purpose of physical assets, addressing deterioration and delivering targeted interventions that protect the infrastructure supporting essential services.
For African Gray, infrastructure maintenance extends beyond restoring buildings and structures. It means preserving asset integrity, protecting critical service infrastructure and supporting the operational readiness of the environments that depend on it.
